Beyond the Couch is a love letter to macro social work, hosted by Angell Bray-Darden, MSW, a social worker who's been in the macro field for over fifteen years. This podcast talks about systematic change, salaries, and the skill sets that come with this work. We can do so many things, and it's time the world knew it. This podcast exists to amplify the skills, talents, and knowledge we bring to the table. Policy analysis, program development, community organizing, grant writing, research, C-suite positions. Social work isn't just therapy sessions. It shows up in courtrooms, city councils, community centers, and boardrooms. Because social work goes way beyond the couch.

Angell Bray-Darden, MSW
Creator & Host, Beyond the Couch
A native Detroiter with almost twenty years of experience in community engagement and nonprofit program leadership, Angell builds strategic partnerships with health systems, faith communities, and grassroots organizations, finding comfort in the uncomfortable conversations that drive real change. She created Beyond the Couch because the profession deserves a platform as bold as the work itself. For Angell, it all comes down to making meaningful connections one interaction at a time. She holds an MSW with a concentration in Social Policy and Administration from Florida State University and a B.A. in Sociology from Eastern Michigan University. When she's not in the work, you can find her watching Bravo, listening to Childish Gambino, or having dance parties with her daughter.
